Hi everyone, I’m Matt – co-founder of Autogear Competitions.

I live in North Devon with my young family, and love spending time with them on the beach or walking the Moors. I also love cars as you can probably guess. I am a big F1 fan, and enjoy attending various car shows and events when I can.

I have worked for over 15 years in customer services and sales, but also love sports – although my playing days are long behind me now, comedy, music, film, amongst other things. I try to get out and socialise as much as possible and love meeting and chatting with friends, or making new ones.

However, back to the cars……
My love of cars (and all things automotive) started when I was young with my Dad having driving jobs of various types, and has continued into adulthood. It was the inspiration behind starting Autogear Competitions, as I wanted to do something I was passionate about.

I had seen numerous competition websites around and knew it would be something I would thoroughly enjoy doing, but couldn’t do it alone. So Lyn and I got together and decided to combine our joint passion for cars, and our varied expertise and experience.

It was clear from the outset that we both wanted to do things a little bit different to the comp sites already out there. Rather than offering expensive cars, with high costs to own and run (where 90% of winners take the cash alternative), we wanted to give prizes that winners could afford to keep and use as much as possible. This means offering cars that are not too high in value and very cheap to tax, insure, and run.

And this is the ethos behind Autogear Competitions. Whoever you are and whatever your circumstances or need for a new car, we offer you the chance to drive away in a car rather than be forced to take a cash alternative.

On a personal level, I really hope our cars make a difference to people’s lives in some way – whether it be the piece of mind of owning a safer and more reliable car for driving around a young family, or giving someone the ability to own a first car that doesn’t cost thousands to insure, or simply for anyone who can’t afford to buy a relatively low mileage and well looked after car. I hope we make people incredibly happy!

Hi, I’m Lyn

I moved to South Devon back in 2005 with my young family. Having a huge passion for boats and cars we just wanted to bring the family up by the sea.

I have worked in IT for 40 years and since 1996 have been running several successful IT and software development companies.

Three years ago, I helped my wife Jemma setup a new venture, Plum Equestrian which is an equestrian based competition company. Plum Equestrian has gone from strength to strength and is now the fastest growing company in this sector. Plumequestrian.com We plan to run Autogear Competitions in the same professional manner and aim to build a thriving and friendly community.

I met Matt through a local car club, quickly realising we had very similar interests and goals decided to setup Autogear Competitions offering cars that would appeal to people who just wanted a reliable, safe and economical daily driver.
